| Title : | War Pensions & Council Tax |
New member of staff Angela Midgley (who you may remember as a volunteer at NGVFA Respite 2009) wrote to every council in the UK in December asking for information on what policies each council has, based around taking a war pension into account when calculating benefits such as Council Tax.
We have received quite a few responses so far and we're going to collate the information and let members know of any outcomes and what actions we will take as a result. Although we have found one thing out already; that Northern Ireland have a modified system of the old domestic rates instead of council tax so if the taxman's taking all your dough, Northern Ireland might be the place to go!
In case you are wondering; the snow is pretty bad at our offices in Hull and there is a chance that we may be snowed in this evening. The girls are currently taking part in a competition to see who would be lucky enough to share a meal with Paul. There can be only one.
NOTE: All work mentioned in the office blog is extra done on top of the essential task of providing members with the support needed on a day-to-day basis.
