Hi, name's Andy, ex RAF armourer, served at RSAF Dharhan during GW1, was responsible for 2 bomb dumps [explosive storage areas if you want to be posh!], had all the jabs and NAPS but as far as we were aware we were not exposed to any pesticides, that's not to say that we weren't. Dharhan was within range of Sadman's scuds so copped a few but the Patriots [God Bless America] took them out before they hit, apart from one which broke up and the warhhead landed just down the road from us, not chemical we were assured.

Didn't realise I was '*****ed up' until a few years after my discharge in 1993, by then I had tried unsuccessfully to booze it out of my system [with hindsight, not recommended]. Have had visits from Combat Stress and have seen Morgan O'Connell, which helped.

Haven't had any serious flashbacks or panic attacks for just over 3 years now. On the physical side I had a L/H shoulder replacement 3 years ago, my left hip was replaced a month ago and the right hip will be replaced once the left one is OK.

I'm glad I've joined this group, I look forward to talking to other members, and if I can be of any help to anyone you know where I am.

Cheers to you all

Andy White

Hi Andy welcome to the NGVFA family. I'm Kerry, a male one!, ex RAF supply air movementss. Was part of SHF (support helicopter force) operating out of Al Jubyal.

Gald to have another blue job on board, need to keep these army types in thier place lol!

No seriously everyone get's on great together, usual cross service banter but we are all here for one another. Hope you get to go to the next respite break, a chance to meet everyone, put names to faces and make new friends. An oppurunity to spend time with people in the same boat as yourself. It's also nice to find out that you've not been going crazy imagining all the things that are happening to you.

Once agian welcome to the family, look forward to meeting you in the future.

I must say the NGVFA are great if it was not for a respite i attended two years ago i would still be in a very dark place, however i have got my sense of humour back and sorted out my war pension and i am starting to enjoy life again as best one can (good days bad days) as it goes!!

Hope you can make respite next year it is a great time for all so start saving the pennies mate.

As i said good to have another blue job on side.

cheers
