The NGVFA have built up a wide range of services targeted to the needs of its members. These include:
Welfare and advocacy
- Giving help and advice on a wide range of issues relevant to everyday living and previous military service
- Help with war pension and benefit claims and appeals
- Information and support regarding medical problems
- A listening ear when you just need to talk
Tribunal representation (unavailable to Associate members)
- For appeals relating to war pensions
- For appeals relating to other benefits, e.g. Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Help preparing and discussing the case prior to an appeal
- Attending on the day as a representative to help put your case over to the panel
Free phone number (unavailable to Associate members)
- A freephone helpline manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Fact sheets and guides
- We produce fact sheets and guidance booklets on a wide range of relevant topics for our members.
The Oasis Times

- Members are provided with personal login details giving them access to fact sheets, information booklets, current newsletters and more
Members' forum
- An online discussion forum with a private members section. This forum helps members to "talk" with others who are in a similar situation wherever they are in the country. It is particularly useful for those members who may be feeling isolated
Facebook
- A Facebook group to help keep members and the public in touch with each other and with the charity. Group members receive updates on upcoming events, and find out about veterans news
- This group attracts around 100 new members every month from all over the world and helps to build awareness of the charity

Respite break
- A yearly five day respite break providing a safe haven for veterans and their families
- A chance to meet people in a similar situation and make new friends
- The respite consists of both informative workshops and family entertainment
- Funding may be available to help members with financial difficulties attend the respite break

Welcome pack (unavailable to Associate members)
- A new member will receive a welcome pack on joining. The welcome pack is tailored to meet members needs with factsheets on a range of topics from war pensions to housing. This information is sent out gradually over the first three months of membership
Counselling (unavailable to Associate members)
- Provided by a qualified counsellor, who has over 10 years experience dealing with military PTSD
Legal helpline (unavailable to Associate members)
- Linder Myers Solicitors offer a local rate helpline for our members and provide a one off free enquiry and advice on legal issues
